In His Grip Men's Invitational

Tournament Rules

General rules of golf and the usual golf etiquette apply.

Most typical 4-person scramble rules apply / best ball.

For you non-golfers, that means that each player will tee off and then the team will select the best tee shot. All players will play their second shot from within one club length of this location. This pattern is repeated until the ball is in the hole. If the best shot lies on the putting green then all players will play from within six inches of this location.

Hitting from "the same spot" means within one club length; no closer to the hole from tee to green and within six inches on the green. This means that if you are behind a small tree you can move to the side within one club length to avoid the tree. However, the ball must be hit from the same surface type/condition. In other words, a ball in the rough must stay in the rough; a ball in the sand must stay in the sand; etc. The original ball should be marked with a tee and it can also be placed within one club length of its origin.

The ball may be placed into position in any way with your hands, your club or by simply dropping it. The ground may not be altered other than to remove loose debris or to smooth the sand in a sand trap.

Once you have hit a subsequent shot, you have declared it as the best shot and it is too late to pick a different best shot. Example: You hit your drive and hit your second shot before your partner hits his drive. Now his drive does NOT count because by hitting your second shot you have declared it as the best spot to hit from for your team's second shot.

Another IMPORTANT example: Your team is putting for birdie from 10 feet. You just miss it and decide to tap it in to get it out of the way. You have just scored a par on the hole even if you partner were to make his birdie putt. Again, because you chose your tap-in as the best shot before your partner completed his previous shot your team has to record a par.

Maximum number of strokes per hole: 3 over par.

(Lets not get bogged down on a bad hole)

Teams with only 3 team members.

If your team does not have a fourth person, your team will be allowed to take the 4th stroke as follows: First man to tee off on the 1st hole will be considered player #1, Second man to tee off will be considered player #2, and the third man to tee off will be considered player #3. Player #1 will take the 4th stroke on holes #1, 4, 7, 10, 13, & 16. Player #2 will take the 4th stroke on each shot on holes #2, 5, 8, 11, 14, & 17. Player #3 will take the 4th stroke on each shot on holes #3, 6, 9, 12, 15,& 18.   On par 3’s, only a players first shot can count for the hole-in-one or closest-to-the-pin contests.

All golfers will play from the BLUE tees.

Men age 65+ will be allowed to use the senior’s tees; white tees. Except, on the par 3’s. EVERYONE WILL PLAY THE BLUE TEES ON PAR 3’S. Hole-in-One prizes and closest to the pin are based on distance to the hole.

Awards

Awards will be given to the top three teams for the lowest gross score.

Scorecard playoff;  the lowest score shall determine the winning team. Ties will be eliminated based on a regression beginning on the 18th hole, regardless of the starting hole.

Awards for closest to pin on selected holes.

Awards for a hole in one on selected holes.

Great Door Prizes and more!

No Mulligans.

HOLE-IN-ONE CONTEST

The hole-in-one will be awarded on all selected holes.  Rules for the Hole-In-One contest will be explained before the tournament.  Senior tees cannot be used for hole in one’s; the shot is based on the distance to the hole from the tournament tees.

CLOSEST-TO-THE- PIN

A marker will be located on the green for selected holes. After teeing off, if your ball lands on the green and is closer to the pin than the marker, move the marker to the location of your ball on the green and put your name beneath the name already there. The player who lands their ball closest to the pin receives the award. Use the flagstick as a measuring rod if it is a close call.   Senior tees (white) can be used for this event.

PUTTING CONTEST

PREACHER AIDE

Preacher aide is a free shot from the team’s best-chosen tee shot, which will not count against the team.  Example:  The tee shot lands on the green and Brother Garry putts to the hole.  The team score would be a one.  The same example applies if the chosen shot is in a hazard or the rough.  Brother Garry gets to aide the team with a free shot. Preacher Aide does not qualify for a hole-in-one or closest to pin shots.

Rules are subject to change before each tournament. Any changes will announced before the teams leave for their tee box.
